When and where: Dec. 12 at Cameron

Outcome: St. Croix Falls 62, Cameron 12

Summary: St. Croix Falls wrestled for the first time in their new conference, the Heart O’North and quickly gave the other teams notice that they will be hard to stop this season with a 50 point decision.

When and Where: December 14 at Eau Claire Husky Invitational.

Outcome: St. Croix Falls finished in second place in a 27 team field in an individual tournament at Eau Claire North High School. The Saints had four champions crowned in their respective weight classes: Luke Theamert (106), Kole Marko (145), McKinley Erickson (195) and Tanner Gaffey (285). Other noteworthy place winners were Mason Will (fourth), Zack Clark (fourth) and Kaden Clark (fifth).

Comments: “I was impressed by freshman Kegan Koshiol’s level of fight he brought to the tournament,” Saints coach Joe Raygor said. “Another freshman, Kaden Clark, showed immense grit winning his last match in triple overtime. Overall, I thought the team wrestled well. We didn’t reach our goal of winning the tournament but I was proud of the hustle and effort the team displayed. Our starting 160 pounder, Bennett Bergmann, came down with influenza the night before competition so the team really rallied behind each other and everyone picked up the extra slack.”

Upcoming: This Thursday (Dec. 19) the Saints host Ladysmith in a conference match beginning at 7:00 pm. The next day SCF will travel to Chisago Lakes for an individual tournament featuring some top Minnesota teams. “We’re going to go back and really hammer bottom wrestling,” Raygor said. “I take pride in the fact nobody can keep SCF wrestlers down. To win the big matches in February you must be able to earn that escape point.”
