John Bailey of Cushing vented his indignation to the Sun because Assemblywoman Magnafici dared to add her signature on Republican letter to then Vice President Pence questioning the legitimacy of the very close November presidential election in swing-state Wisconsin. His logic is strange -- that checking or contesting an election system’s integrity breaks down the election system in general – rather than really seeking to insure its integrity. Abolitionist Wendell Philips in 1852 said, ‘Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.”

Mr. Bailey further impugns her character by charging, “I have never heard her suggest that her own election victories be called into question!” He fails to note that her opponents had not called either of her two victorious elections into question. Ms. Magnafici has the integrity to permit such transparency if such ever becomes the case.
