Duane Arnold Callin of Osceola died Jan. 3, 2022. He was 80.

He was born to George and Eleanore Callin in Grantsburg on March 19, 1941. George died when Duane was four years old. Eleanore married Milo Measner and moved to Osceola in 1953. Duane graduated from Osceola High School in 1959. He met and married his love, Sandra Raska, at Zion Lutheran Church on Oct. 19, 1963, and was blessed with four children. Randy Callin (Ruthie) of Osceola, Rhonda Reding (Greg) of Chisago City Minn., Rochelle Schwederske (Tim) of Osceola and Rebecca Bune (Brent) of Spring Valley, Wis.

Duane and Sandy bought a 160 acre farm in 1968. They had beef cows, sheep, chickens and horses along with many cats and dogs. He worked for UFE in Dresser for 44 years. He enjoyed preparing and planting his multiple gardens. Along with listening and dancing to polka music (Mollie B and The Chmielewski band), collecting model tractors, traveling to Florida to visit relatives around the USA and spending time at the cabin on Spirit Lake with his family.

Duane loved having his birthday parties in March! And spending time with the family. His pride and joy were his grandchildren and great grandchildren: Ashley Arneson (Brian), Trevor and Derek Reding, Carmine Garza, Alex Schwederske, Melissa Pederson (Cole), Dylan, Brock, Sandy, and Boomer Bune. Great-grandchildren Kaylie and Keauna Richards and Penelope Pederson. And also all of his dogs especially, Dallas.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Callin, mother Eleanore and stepfather Milo Measner and grandpa Nels (Pop) Nielsen.

Duane is survived by his wife, Sandra Callin, celebrating 58 years together. His sister, Jeanine Kopel (Tom), and aunts Millie Lundquist and Fuddy Weigang, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Jan. 7 at Zion Lutheran Church, East Farmington. Interment was in the Oak Grove Cemetery, East Farmington. Condolences may be expressed online at www.grandstrandfh.com.
