Dorothy Elizabeth Lindholm, age 96, died peacefully Dec. 28, 2022, at Eagle Ridge Senior Care facility in Osceola. She was 96.
Dorothy was born Jan. 23, 1926, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Adolph and Ella Hoyer.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Eugene Lindholm of Webster on Sept. 7, 1946. Eugene “Gene” was fresh out of the Navy and attending the University of Minnesota to become a veterinarian. Dorothy and Gene lived with her parents in Minneapolis during those early years and Dorothy worked at General Mills as a secretary to help put Gene through college.
In 1953, Dorothy and Gene settled in Osceola to start their new life. Osceola was “somewhere in between” Minneapolis and Webster. Dorothy played a big roll in her husband’s veterinary practice by taking detailed calls from farmers, doing the monthly billing and receiving vet supplies. Dorothy was also very active in the Osceola community. She was part of the Osceola Women’s Club, Eastern Star and the women’s Wednesday night bowling league. She served on the Osceola School Board, was a volunteer leader for Cub Scouts, Brownies and Girl Scouts when her children were little. Dorothy sang in the choir and served as an organist at Peace Lutheran Church in Dresser for 25 years and retired at the age of 88. Dorothy loved her Minnesota Gophers, Lynx, Twins and Vikings. She loved cats and anything in the color of blue. Dorothy was very proud of her Swedish heritage.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Ella Hoyer and her husband, Gene Lindholm.
She is survived by her sons, Paul (Lynnette) Lindholm and David (Stephanie) Lindholm; daughters, Karen Lindholm and Elizabeth Lindholm; grandchildren, Scott (Christine) Lindholm, Brooke (Louie) Sanders, Amanda (Corey) Warner and Tyler (Sarah) Lindholm; great-grandchildren Ozzie, Rooney and Zeke Warner, Gilliann and Eva Johnson.
Funeral services will be Jan. 6 at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, Dresser, with a visitation starting one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Grandstrand Funeral Home, Osceola.
