Bridgett Bergman

Saints Senior Bridgett Bergman did a great job behind the plate at the regional softball game in Cumberland on Tuesday, May 21.

When and Where: May 21 at Cumberland

Outcome: Cumberland 10, St. Croix Falls 0

Highlights: The Saints had trouble connecting off of Lauren Green, the Cumberland Beaver starting pitcher. Green struck out seven St. Croix hitters and walked no one. She allowed just one hit, a double by Aryn Rode.

Comments: “Cumberland’s pitcher had our number,” Saints’ coach Clayton Hanson said. “Aryn Rode had a great double but it wasn’t enough. Alise Wiehl pitched another good game.”

What’s this Mean: St. Croix finished the season in tied for fourth place with Shell Lake in the Lakeland conference. After drawing a bye in the first round of WIAA Regional play the Saints were eliminated from the tournament by Cumberland.

Seniors: Seniors Alyssa Tucker, Bridgett Bergman, Elsie Flom, Emma Aguilar and Tori Wendorf played their last softball game of their high school careers at Cumberland. “It’s sad to see those five seniors leave,” Hanson said. “I’ve coached them for a long time. They will be missed.”
