Where and When: Sherstad Invitational (Grantsburg) August 29, 2019

Summary/Results: Our girls team was led by Sierra Braund who finished fifth overall (26:32 for 5,000 meters), earning a medal for her top 10 finish. Our boys team finished third out of six teams. Trevor LaMirande finished first overall (17:50), Viktor Knigge finished sixth (19:53.4) and Mason Peer finished seventh (19:53.7), with all three runners earning medals.

Highlights:  Trevor LaMirande winning the boys race and improving his time from last year’s race was impressive and good to see,” St. Croix Falls coach Adam Kovar said. “Viktor Knigge and Mason Peer really worked hard and pushed each other finishing neck and neck and helping our boys team to a strong overall finish with 57 points which was a 40 point improvement from where we were last year at Grantsburg. On the girls side Sierra Braund really battled and ran a determined race to finish in the top five which was great to see.”

What it means: “It is always great to get out and run your first race of the season,” Kovar noted. “Grantsburg is always a difficult course with good competition from our area. As a team we saw where we stack up against the competition and we’ll try to use what we learned here to get better as we go into next week’s meet in Frederic and throughout the season.”
