When and Where: June 1 at Chetek-Weyerhaeuser
Outcome: St. Croix Falls 15, Chetek-Weyerhaeuser 0
Summary: It was all St. Croix Falls in a battle at Chetek-Weyerhaeuser against the Bulldogs. The Saints scored in four of the five innings played to come away with the decisive win.
Highlights: SCF collected seven hits and received nine free passes against Bulldog pitching. Brayden Olson and Payton Christenson each had a pair of hits. Jared Lessman pitched four innings for the win striking out 10 Bulldog batters.
When and Where: June 2 at Barron (double header)
Outcome: St. Croix Falls 9, Barron 1 and St. Croix Falls 8, Barron 2
First Game Summary: Again SCF got off to a quick start putting up crooked numbers in each of the first two innings on their way to 5-0 lead. The Saints added a run in the fourth, two in the fifth and a single tally in the sixth to build a 9-0 advantage. Barron scored their only run of the game in the sixth.
Highlights: Olson and Adrian Scott both had a pair of hits to account for half of the SCF total. Scott hit a homerun, scored twice and drove in three. Olson and Christenson also scored twice each. Olson pitched a complete game for the win.
Second Game Summary: St. Croix Falls won in a similar manner as game one of the double header scoring two in the first and third innings and putting up a big four-spot in the fourth to take an 8-0 lead.
Highlights: Brady Belisle led the offense going 3-for-3 and drove in a trio of runs. Christenson also drove in three and Scott scored three times. Christenson pitched 5 2/3 innings to pick up the win, striking out 10 would-be Bear hitters.
When and Where: June 3at Hayward
Outcome: St. Croix Falls 7, Hayward 0
Summary: Good St. Croix Falls hitting and terrific pitching led the Saints to a 7-0 win over Hayward in the final HON game of the season. The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when the SCF put four on the board. Two innings later they put up another three to win 7-0.
Highlights: Lessman pitched six innings of one-hit ball to secure the win with Dylan Smith finishing up. Lessman struck of 15 Hurricane batters. Scott stayed hot at the plate with two more hits. Olson drove in three and Lessman a pair. Tyler Olson scored twice for SCF.
What this Means: St. Croix Falls goes undefeated (18-0) in HON play to win the conference title the first year in the Heart O’North. The Saints finish the regular season with a 21-1 record and have now won 12 in a row. SCF had a nine game winning streak earlier this season.
Upcoming: St. Croix Falls will open WIAA Regional play when they host the winner of the game between Grantsburg and Turtle Lake/Clayton. The game will be played on June 15th. SCF earned the 1-seed for the Regional.
