When and Where: Jan. 14 at St. Croix Falls
Outcome: St. Croix Falls 81, Siren 44
Summary: When you are in the hunt for the top spot in the conference every game is important. St. Croix Falls took care of business last week by defeating the Siren Dragons in a return to conference action. SCF took a 16 point lead into intermission and stretched the lead into the second half.
Highlights: St. Croix Falls had wonderful balance to their offense with five players ending the night in double figures. Kullan Parks led the way with 21 points followed by Jared Lessman with 14. Payton Christenson and Clay VanBuskirk each dropped in a dozen with Declan Greenquist hitting for 11. The Saints hit for six 3-pointers with Lessman netting half of those.
Comments: “We started out a little bit slow defensively but after the five-minute mark we were able to create some turnovers and make Siren uncomfortable on offense,” St. Croix Falls coach Chad Hall said. “Offensively it was nice to see five guys score in double figures. We also did a tremendous job rebounding as we had just under 50 rebounds total with almost half of those coming from the offensive side of the ball.”
What this Means: St. Croix Falls remains one game back of the Luck Cardinals in the race for first place in the West Lakeland. The game with Luck scheduled for Jan. 17 was postponed until Feb 17due to a snowstorm that gripped the area. The Saints also have the regularly scheduled game with Luck at St. Croix Falls scheduled for Feb. 11.
Upcoming: St. Croix Falls travels to Grantsburg to take on the Pirates on Jan. 24 and then host Ladysmith in a non-conference game on Jan. 27.
