When and Where: May 21 at Bristol Ridge Golf Course in Somerset, WI
Outcome: The St. Croix Falls Saints placed ninth as a team at the 2019 Regional golf tournament played at Bristol Ridge in Somerset. The top four teams, Amery, St. Croix Central, Baldwin-Woodville and Osceola, advanced to Sectional play as a team.
Highlights: Mitchel Steele was the top individual qualifier for Sectional play this week in Hayward. Steele shot an 85 over 18 holes in very windy conditions at Bristol Ridge. Only medalist Parker Griffin of Amery shot a better round than Steele. Steele was followed by Kullan Parks (113), Hunter Skelton (115) and Seth Gudmunsen (124) for the Saints.
Comments: “Congrats to Mitchel on his strong finish at Regionals to qualify as an individual player in Hayward,” St. Croix golf coach Shawn Gudmunsen said. “It was fun to see Mitchel golf to his potential in the tournament. Hopefully we can keep it going at the Sectional meet.”
Upcoming: Steele will compete this Wednesday, May 29, in Hayward with a chance of qualifying for the State meet June 3-4 at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison.
