When and Where: Jan. 14 at St. Croix Falls
Outcome: St. Croix Falls 69, Siren 12
Summary: The Saints rolled to their 10th straight victory of the season. This time the victims were the Siren Dragons. SCF roared to a 29 point lead by halftime and cruised in from there to run their West Lakeland conference record to 5-0.
Highlights: Once again the St. Croix Falls defense was the highlight of the game as they held Siren to just seven points in the first half and five points after the break. The Saints countered with five players in double figures and seven players contributing points overall. Olivia Miron led the offense with 17 points followed by Azalea Edwards with 13. Lucia Newman added a dozen points, Kaylee Miron had 11 and Emily McCurdy added 10.
Comments: “Our team is playing well in a fast paced transition game,” Saints coach Angie Maternowsky said. “We are getting a lot of assists in the transition game by looking for our teammates.”
What this Means: The Saints sit atop the West Lakeland conference with a 5-0 record, one game ahead of the Unity Eagles who are 4-1 (9-2 overall). The SCF game that was scheduled at Luck on Jan. 17 was postponed until January 25 due to a snowstorm.
Upcoming: St. Croix Falls travels to Grantsburg on Jan. 24 for a West Lakeland conference matchup. The Pirates are currently 1-4 in the conference and 5-5 overall.
