When and Where: October 11 at St. Croix Falls
Outcome: St. Croix Falls 59, Cameron 6
Summary: On paper it was a game that St. Croix Falls should win. They needed the win to improve their playoff hopes. Cameron came to town in search of their first win of the season. They did not find it on the Saints’ home turf. SCF dominated the game roaring to a 39-0 halftime lead and a 52-0 lead after three quarters before finishing with a 59-6 win.
Comments: “Great team effort against Cameron this week,” St. Croix coach Grant Belisle said. “We were able to get most players into the game. It's fun to watch the seniors play at possibly their last home game and it's fun to get the young players in as well.”
Stats: St. Croix Falls had 12 different players carry the pigskin at least once during the game. The Saints rolled up 437 rushing yards and averaged an amazing 13.7 yards per carry. SCF had seven different players find the end zone at least one time during the game.
What this Means: With the win St. Croix Falls secures at least a tie for fifth place in the 10-team Heart O’North conference. Northwestern is currently in first place with an 8-0 record with Cumberland one game behind at 7-1.
Upcoming: The Saints complete their regular season this Friday with a game in Ladysmith. The Lumberjacks are currently in eighth place in the conference standings. “We really need to finish the season with a strong effort against Ladysmith,” Belisle said. “Although Ladysmith's record doesn't look great, they have played the tough teams well this season. They have some great athletes in the backfield and have a few tough linemen. We will have our hands full.”
