When and Where: Sept. 3 at Frederic.
Summary/Results: Our girls team placed first out of three teams. Sierra Braund finished second overall (25:21 for 5,000 meters), Emily Hahn finished fourth (26:00) and Alise Wiehl (26:28) fifth overall with all three runners earning medals for top-five finishes. Our boys team finished second out of three teams. Trevor LaMirande finished first overall (17:30) and Viktor Knigge finished fifth (19:11).
Highlights: “On the boys side Trevor LaMirande again ran an impressive race and it was great to see him take home another first place finish and improve upon his time from Frederic last year,” Saints’ coach Adam Kovar said. “The girls’ team taking home a first place team trophy was the big highlight of the night. Sierra Braund ran another good race finishing in second and Emily Hahn in her second high school cross country race and Alise Wiehl in her first race ever finishing in the top five was also really great to see.”
What it means: “It was great to see more of our runners out and competing,” Kovar said. “Any time you can have a team take first overall at an invite is a great accomplishment. It’s a credit to Sierra (Braund), Emily (Hahn), Alise (Wiehl), Jesi (Peterson), Aleah (Jensen), Olivia (Durushia), Abby(Jensen), and Payden (Bainbridge)for the races they ran and the support they gave their teammates in Frederic.”
Upcoming: St. Croix Falls will compete in their first large meet of the season on Sept. 12 at Cameron. A total of 15 teams are expected to compete.
