Outcome: Northwestern 42, St. Croix Falls 7

Summary: The Northwestern Tigers lived up to their top seed by defeating the 5-seeded St. Croix Falls Saints by a score of 42-7. Northwestern continued their undefeated season with the win and will now face another undefeated team, Stratford, in the upcoming Level-3 matchup in Division-5.  

Stats: St. Croix Falls found it tough sledding against the stout Northwestern defense. The Saints gained 85 yards on the ground led by McKinley Erickson’s 60. Erickson scored the lone St. Croix Falls touchdown on an eight yard run. Quarterback Zack Clark had 77 yards in passing on two completions with Alex Mysicka on the receiving end of both hookups. Northwestern opened the scoring with a first quarter touchdown by Colin Trautt on a three yard run. After Trautt doubled the Northwestern lead with a four yard run in the second quarter, Erickson scored for the Saints to make it 14-7. The Tigers scored twice late in the second quarter to bring their lead to 28-7 at the break.  

Season: The Saints played their season for the first time in the revamped Heart O’North conference. SCF ended their season with a 5-4 record good for fifth place in the 10-team conference. Northwestern earned the top spot in the Heart O’North with a 9-0 record. Northwestern was followed by Cumberland (8-1), Bloomer (7-2) and Hayward (6-3).   

Upcoming: The Saints will lose 11 seniors from the 2019 team but hope to build on the successes that they experienced during the year.
