The Special Meeting of the Board of Education for the School District of Osceola was held in the District Office Board Room on Tuesday, June 22, 2021. The meeting was called to order by President Brooke Kulzer at 5:00 P.M. with roll call taken: Pete Kammerud – yes; Kysa Marten –yes; Lanette Johnson-yes; Brian Meyer-yes; and Brooke Kulzer –yes. Superintendent Mark Luebker, Business Manager Lynette Edwards, Director of Pupil Services Jessie Thorson, and Building Principals Amanda Meyer, Julie Bender, and Lindsay Thomas attended the meeting. In addition Matt Wolfert, Stephen Kuhnen, Clint Selle from Bray Architects and Andrew Daniels, Megan Prestebak and Dave Keating from Miron Construction joined the meeting. 

Bray Architects and Miron Construction presented to the Board 8 requested options for addressing the elementary school. These options included building a new building, additions to the intermediate school and middle school, reconfiguring grades to different buildings, and updating the current elementary school building.

(Current grades configurations: OES (EC-2), OIS (3-5), OMS (6-8) OHS (9-12))

Option #1  

Remodel current elementary school for grades EC-4K

Build new 5K-2 elementary school on Education Ave 

Renovate middle school to add a secure entrance 

(5 total buildings)

Option #2

Remodel/rebuild current elementary school for grades EC-2

Renovate Osceola Middle School to add a secure entrance 

Option #3 

Build new EC-2 grade elementary school on Education Ave

The Board discussed each individual option with the Bray/Miron team and evaluated pros and cons. Electronic copies of all options reviewed are located on the district’s website under School Board of Education - Agendas, Minutes and Board Packets 2020-2021. 

A Pete Kammerud/Kysa Marten motion was made to survey the community on option 3 in the fall of 2021. Roll call vote: Lanette Johnson- yes, Pete Kammerud- yes, Kysa Marten-yes, Brian Meyer- no, Brooke Kulzer- yes. Motion Carried. 

The next regular Board Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. in the Osceola High School Auditorium. A public audience will be allowed for this meeting and the room will be set up to follow social distancing guidelines. 

A Brian Meyer/Lanette Jonson motion was made to adjourn into executive session pursuant to WI Statute 19.85(1) (c) to consider the employment and compensation of any employee and for preliminary consideration of a specific matter which, if discussed in public, could have an adverse impact on the reputation of those involved.  

A.       Personnel Considerations

Roll call taken: Pete Kammerud-yes; Kysa Marten-yes; Brian Meyer-yes; Lanette Johnson-yes; and Brooke Kulzer-yes. Motion Carried. 

A Kysa Marten/Lanette Johnson motion was made to adjourn out of the Executive Session. Motion carried.

Brooke Kulzer announced a motion made by Brian Meyer/Kysa Marten to hire a OES/OIS Counselor, one part time (4hour) certified aide at OMS and increase an aide at OHS by two hours. Motion Carried.  

A Brian Meyer/Pete Kammerud motion was made to adjourn. Motion Carried.
