My name is Carly Herrick. I am a junior at St. Croix Falls High School. On Friday, June 14, I am co-hosting a Pride event at the St. Croix Falls Public Library as the culmination of a capstone project in one of my classes.

With this celebration, I am hoping to give LGBTQ+ people in the community a safe place to embrace who they are, and open the minds of the rest of the community to the diverse population of people we call our neighbors. This event will include support from the Twin Cities Pride Foundation as well as the potential appearance of Dykes on Bikes (a lesbian motorcycle group whose 22 chapters travel around the nation to attend various Pride celebrations).

There will be entertainment, a photo booth, music and refreshments. We would like to invite the Sun and its readers to come see what this is all about. The event will run from 3 to 7 p.m. We hope to see you there.
