Stuart Julian Nelson of Osceola, walked peacefully into the arms of Jesus on the morning of Oct.20, 2019, at home with family by his side. He was 77.
Stuart was born June 14, 1942, to Fred and Luella (Hexum) Nelson at the curbside of Ladd Memorial Hospital, Osceola, the youngest of five children.
He was baptized and confirmed at West Immanuel Lutheran Church and grew up in Horse Creek where his parents owned and operated the Horse Creek Store.
He attended Meadow View School in Star Prairie for grades 1-8 then graduated from Osceola High School in 1960. While in school he met Marilyn Jane LaRue and was united in marriage December 22, 1962, at Zion Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with two children, Colleen and Rohn.
Stuart loved his wife and children very much; providing, instructing and supporting them in many ways. He loved his grandkids; watching them grow, enjoying their stories and accomplishments and being able to experience the joy of his granddaughter’s marriage before his passing.
He loved his siblings and enjoyed meeting them for family gatherings, going on trips, out to eat or to head out with his brothers for the next great hunt they would have. He had a deep caring for everyone in his family.
Stuart loved the Lord; serving at Zion Lutheran Church on Elders as president, Church Council as president multiple times and on the Stewardship Committee. He was a faith filled man with the knowing of Jesus being his savior to him and to others around him.
During his employment, Stuart worked at Champion Aircraft then Bellanca Aircraft and Northern Metals as an engineer; closing out his career at Polaris as an engineer then maintenance manager at his retirement, all in Osceola.
Stuart was proceeded in death by his parents, Fred and Luella Nelson; brother John Nelson; brother-in-law Jim Moeller and sister-in-law Ruth Nelson.
Stuart is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marilyn; children, Colleen (Greg) Swanson and Rohn Nelson; grandchildren, Hope (John) Eaton and Ben Swanson; siblings, Larry Nelson, Gordon (Audrey) Nelson and Diane Moeller; brother-in-law Jim (Mary) LaRue; along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorials preferred to the Mayo Clinic.
A funeral service was held Oct. 26 at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Farmington. Interment took place in the Oak Grove cemetery, East Farmington.
