Mary “Betty” Elizabeth Montgomery of Osceola, died July 23, 2019, at the Christian Community Home in Osceola. She was 89.
Betty was born into a fun, joy-filled family on Jan. 11, 1930, in Amery, to Ralph and Eulalia (Bonnes) Thompson. She was a graduate of Amery High School. She married the love of her life, James Montgomery, on Oct. 12, 1950, in Amery. Together they raised 11 children in Osceola where Betty was a loving homemaker for her family.
Betty’s Christian faith and love for the Lord were evident to all who knew her. She loved entertaining and all were welcome in her home. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, singing, playing cards, playing games, fundraising for causes close to her heart, visiting the family cabin, fishing in Canada, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, for whom she prayed daily. She was a very active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Osceola, where she volunteered as choir director and religious education director, lector, Eucharistic minister and participated in the Altar Society, Bible study, and Cursillo. She was also a prayer warrior. Her faith in the Lord, servant’s heart, and gentle spirit will be greatly missed.
