Devoted wife, mother and grandmother Darla Jane Schlueter’s passion for life did not end with her death. She was surrounded by her loved ones, who will continue to spread her kindness and thoughtfulness each day, when she died April 3, 2021. She was 81.

Darla was born Feb 7, 1940, in Mankato, Minn. Darla married the love of her life Milan “Mike” Schlueter in 1965 and moved to Wisconsin. She became the epitome of self-sufficiency by gardening, sewing, fishing, raising ducks, and baking for her family, friends, and neighbors. She loved being with her family, especially when celebrating the holidays, cutting wood, camping or fishing. Darla particularly loved spending time with friends and family, and took the time to make each holiday and birthday special. She made lunch and treats daily and made sure that as loved ones headed off to work or school they were prepared for the day. Weekends were dedicated to the family by travel, outdoor activities, cards, or other board games (of course after chores were done). She cherished a good conversation and a game of cards.

Darla was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mike and brother Dean Thompson.

Darla is survived by her three children, William “Bill” Schlueter (Heidi), Tracey Schlueter, and Darin Schlueter (Kerry); grandchildren, Jeremy, Jessica, Kelsey, MyaLynn, and Aidan; one great-grandchild, Grant; two brothers, Dale Thompson (Tricia) and Dennis Thompson, along with numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be April 9 at 3 p.m. and is preceded by a visitation at 1:30 p.m. Both will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Farmington. Memorials to Zion Lutheran Church.
