Claire Roddy died April 22, 2019, in the Arbor Terrace living community in Herndon, Va. She was 94.

This is a loving and caring community and she loved all of her friends in the retirement home. From her birth in Minneapolis, Minn., on May 29, 1924, to her death on Monday she nourished people around her with love, and a caring heart. She served her country  as a member of the Coast Guard in World War II, and following the war she met her husband Jack Warren Roddy and they married and dedicated themselves to the lives of their three children, Jill Stang (Howard), Jack Roddy, and Walter Roddy (Gaye). Claire was a tremendous grandmother to her six grandchildren , Erik ( Christine)  Stang, Daniel (Shannon) Stang, Rebecca Stang, Jennifer Roddy, Jonathan ( Rinita)  Roddy, and Sarah Roddy. Claire was blessed with three Great Grandchildren , Landon Stang, Julian Stang, and  Arabelle Roddy. Claire’s gravesite will be located at Ft. Snelling in Minneapolis, Minn., where she will be buried with her loving husband Jack Roddy and nearby the graves of Jack Roddy’s parents  who were veterans also of the First World War.  Claire was a person of great strength and courage and everlasting love. The funeral home which has been a wonderful blessing in the arrangements is the  Adams Green Funeral home of Herndon Virginia. The burial will take place at Ft. Snelling on May 24 at 12:45 p.m.
