Alfred Laurence Lieffring, a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, died peacefully surrounded by his family Jan. 4, 2020, at Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater, Minn. He was 82.

He was born in Eau Galle, Wis., Aug. 29, 1937, to Laurence and Ethel Lieffring. He married Sharon Schallenberger on Nov. 9, 1957, at St. Dominic’s Church in Frederic.

Alfred was an inspector at World Aerospace for 20 years. However before that he had jobs ranging from a DJ during high school at JMC radio station located in Rice Lake called “Toons For Teens,” he worked with his father and brother at the Texaco gas station in Cumberland, and worked at the taconite plant in Aurora Minn. He also worked at Admiral TV and a Machine Shop in Harvard, Ill., and did some logging with his brother-in-law for a year in Ladysmith.

Alfred loved to fly a Cessna 140 and 150 while they lived in Grantsburg. He built his own home in Osceola in 1970. He was an avid fisherman and loved hunting. His other hobbies include playing his guitar, golfing, bowling, and playing cards. He also loved to have coffee and roll dice with friends down at the Subway in Osceola.

He is survived by his children, Pam (Phil) Collova, Mary (Jon) Knopp, Leah Lieffring, and daughter- in-law Brenda Lieffring; grandchildren, Susan (Jr) Dove, Donny Lieffring, Jennifer (Eli) Walker, Doug Lieffring, Michael (Heather) Collova, Melissa Wilson, Stacy (Hunter) Shira, David (Emily) Knopp, Daniel (Colette) Knopp; great grandchildren Devon, Messiah, Asziah and Quad Lieffring/Dove, Anna and Romeo Willson, Mario Collova, April and Annabelle Walker, Jordan and Landon Lieffring, Audrey and Josie Shira.

Funeral services were Jan. 12 at Osceola Community Church.
