The Washington County Sheriff's Office released more details Friday morning about the accident Thursday night which claimed the life of a man in Lakeland Township. 

In this second release, it stated deputies learned a dump truck was southbound on Manning Ave. North and a Nissan Sentra was northbound. Witnesses on scene reported the Nissan crossed over the center line into oncoming traffic, causing a head on collision with the dump truck. 

Both vehicle had single occupants. The Nissan driver was pronounced dead at the scene after Washington County deputies, Bayport Fire and Lakeview EMS attempted life saving measures. He was identified as a 20-year-old man from Oak Park Heights. 


The Washington County Sheriff's Office reported Thursday night a man died in a motor vehicle accident in West Lakeland.

The news release stated sheriff's deputies responded to a motor vehicle vs. commercial vehicle accident in the area of Manning Ave. N. and 22nd St. N., at 6:20 p.m.

Upon their arrival, the adult male driver of the passenger vehicle was unresponsive. Deputies, with the assistance of Bayport Rescue and Lakeview medics, attempted lifesaving measures.

Due to the extent of his injuries, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Minnesota State Patrol assisted on scene.
