This year’s Winter Carnival PTA Fundraiser, meant to raise funds for teacher grants, was approved at last Wednesday’s Osceola School Board meeting.
PTA President, Amanda, was present at the meeting to outline how parents and students may be involved in selling tickets in this year’s fundraiser. Essentially, baskets of donated goods from local businesses and parents will be raffled off at the carnival. Tickets will be sold by students k-12 at a rate of $5 for six tickets and $1 for one ticket. With the raffle profit going back into the school, Amanda explains, “It’s a lot less work for our teachers.”
The goal this year is to raise $4,000 and get more families involved with the carnival. Permission slips will be sent home with students the last Friday of February. And since tickets will be sold by students, the board was concerned about how the younger students will organize and manage money, but Superintendent, Mark Luebker explained, “Parents are more apt to help the younger kids,” and Amanda clarified that any misuse of tickets or money will be monitored by keeping track of the amount of tickets given to each student and their matching return profits.
With all questions answered, Treasurer Rosanne Anderson concluded, “Let’s try one year.”
