The Polk County Sheriff’s Office notified the press May 21 that a motorcycle driver injured in a May 14 crash in Clam Falls had died.

The crash was reported at 9:30 a.m. on County Road E, west of 95th Street. The witness discovered a motorcycle in the road with its operator underneath.

Law enforcement, emergency responders and the North Memorial Air Ambulance rushed to the scene.

After an investigation at the crash site, law enforcement concluded that the motorcycle had been westbound on County Road E when it struck a deer. The operator, who was wearing a helmet, was transported by air to North Memorial Hospital in Minneapolis.

Frederic Fire and first responders, Northland Ambulance Service, Town of Clam Falls and the Wisconsin State Patrol also assisted the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in responding to the crash.
