In a letter to parents and guardians dated Tuesday, August 25, Osceola Superintendent Mark Luebker and District Nurse Rachael Robinson, announced a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the high school community.

"The students and staff who interacted closely with the individual within the school district have been contacted," the letter states. "The individual who has tested positive will be excluded from school until they have been determined to be no longer infectious. Close contacts, determined by district staff, have been excluded from school for 14 days from their last date of exposure to the positive individual and will be monitored for symptoms."

The letter reminds parents and guardians to help prevent the spread of COVID-19:

-- Stay home when ill.

-- Wear a face covering when in public if physically able.

-- Wash hands frequently with soap and water. Use hand sanitizer if soap and water are unavailable.

-- Clean frequently touched surfaces

-- Limit unnecessary travel, events, or large gatherings.
