Polk County has a new assistant corporation counsel in its legal office, attorney Joseph Loso.
The position was formerly held by Malia Malone, who was promoted to corporation counsel with the departure of Jeffrey Fuge.
Malone, who managed the bulk of both roles for about a year, was enthusiastic about the new hire.
“He came very highly recommended from one of the toughest judges I know, Judge Harrington out of Washburn County,” she said. “He’s been working here for just about a month and I’m extraordinarily happy. He seems to be a fantastic fit for our office and a great asset.”
Before coming to Polk County, Loso was in general practice in Pierce County for six years, focusing on criminal and family law.
“I have a good amount of experience in a number of different things,” he told the county board May 21.
“He brings to the table his defense attorney experience,” said Malone. “He is able to look at our cases from a different viewpoint and point out things we maybe would not have thought of initially.”
